How we present our selves
is how we protect our selves.
I like to think of the things we add to ourselves as armor. We use these things to amplify or mute certain features, and everything we use—from hair and makeup, to jewelry, shoes, jackets, and pants—acts as a layer. Only distorting, never actually changing, the essence of who we are.
Like armor, how we present our selves is how we protect our selves. Each layer buffering, but never completely absorbing, the kind of feedback that bruises our natural selves—our actual selves. How interesting…the ways we chose to hide while being seen.
This is one way I hide, while being seen. Self portraits have allowed me the capacity to see myself more clearly. The more I take the more I realize, there’s a lot of tension in honesty. In this medium, it’s not about being honest about who I am, but all the possibilities of who I could be. And what all those possibilities, in turn, reveal about me.
ABOUT ME
A Los Angeles native, I am a firm believer that with a little time, tenacity, and imagination, anything is possible.
Call me a generalist—or an octopus—I’m a multidisciplinary creator and I like to build things. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked in a number of industries, ranging from the performing arts to real estate, and now communications and design. While the industries and job titles may be at odds, each position I’ve held has required that I sit at the intersection of teams and people, using research and analytics to inform strategy, problem-solve, and either build bridges or reinforce them.
In this spirit, Spring 2025 I’m launching PANAKIN, a medium-agnostic content studio that helps creative agencies, production companies, and SMEs tell their story.
In 2020 I joined BRC Imagination Arts, a global experience design and production company that partners with brands like Diageo, Ford, The Las Vegas Raiders, and NASA to translate brand and cultural stories into transformative, human experiences. As Director of Strategy, I co-develop and oversee the short and long-term marketing, positioning, and business strategy for the firm, including all brand and growth-related activities including content, PR, events, awards, and strategic partnerships. I also produce and host ‘Masters of Storytelling,’ BRC’s podcast featuring conversations with storytellers from across the creative spectrum. In 2024 the show won multiple Signal Awards for Best Host and Best Writing.
I’m often asked to host events, give talks or moderate panels. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking at Content Marketing World (2024), SEGD Sports + Entertainment (2024), LDI (2023/2024), and the World Experience Summit (2023/2024), among others.
In 2016, I received an M.B.A. from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, where I now serve as Vice-Chair on the Advisory Board of Directors. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Berlin, where (among many things) I fell into a niche as a brand and business strategist working with creative agencies and production companies. While there, I consulted for the Ayzenberg Group, BLKBX Creative Group, and artist Simone Serlenga, before taking on a role leading english-speaking communications for Japanese design company, Goodpatch. I also spent time at the Berlin School of Business and Innovation, where I taught courses including Introduction to Business Administration and Research Methodologies to undergraduate and graduate business students.
After a rewarding, albeit short, professional dance career - the highlight of which was a month-long trip through Africa as a US Department of State Cultural Ambassador - I have remained a loyal advocate and staunch supporter of the arts.
Oh! BTW, I also really like taking photographs. Check out my self-portraits, pictures of other people, and landscape views. Need a photo? Have a brand problem? Did I mention I like to talk? Give me a call.
